"The Lord Bless You and Keep You"
The words set to this music, by Peter Christian Lutkin, are simple and come from an ancient Biblical benediction found in Numbers 6:24-26:
The Lord bless you and keep you;
The Lord make His face to shine upon you,
and be gracious to you;
The Lord lift His countenance upon you,
and give you peace.
Amen
The reunion choir will sing this song to wrap up the program on July 27, 2022, under the Gunn Park Pavilion. We sang this song many times, under the direction of Mr. Harry Aune, as a benediction at the end of choir concerts, often including choir alumni.
This seems to be a fitting sentiment for our "parting of ways" again, on the evening of our time together. Perhaps it will also be our way of honoring and saying farewell to our many classmates who have died too soon.
